I drove out to Cochiti Lake, west of Santa Fe, NM on the first day of my trip. It was about 675 miles of driving. Annoyingly, I finished one of the five audio books I brought for the trip. I’ll have to listen to more podcasts and music on the next leg.
Where I’m staying is a Corps of Engineers camp next to Cochiti Lake. The campsites are very nice, everything looks fairly new and well maintained. They have electric and nonelectric sites. If you are in an RV, there are a few pull thru sites and all of the sites have paved pads, but no sewage at the sites. The restrooms are modern, with showers (and curtains!) as well as the usual stalls and urinals.
The only bad thing about the place is all the goat head burrs. Since I’m only here for the night and I don’t want to risk my air mattress, I’m just going to sleep in my car. As the sky is clouding up, it’s probably for the best anyway.
Also, here’s my foot.
